If developers at Bethesda embrace new races (and they should), then that means changing The Elder Scrolls 6 character stats and abilities systems. But new races in The Elder Scrolls 6, even non-humanoid ones, could be a great way to inject the sixth installment with some originality. With a new location comes new races, something Bethesda has been hesitant to introduce. It would subvert expectations and be a pleasant surprise for those who are fearful Bethesda will simply retread old territory. An introduction of a completely new location would be great, especially since most fans feel they're familiar with The Elder Scrolls' world. The Elder Scrolls 6 should also introduce a host of new ideas if Bethesda really wants the game to succeed. By the end of the game, does the main character save the world or destroy it? Do players rule the land as a beloved king or a brutal tyrant? It's this kind of mechanic that could really make The Elder Scrolls 6 an exhilarating experience. Allowing players to become the true villain of the game would be another big draw, and Bethesda has leaned into this idea a bit in Fallout 4 already. Players may be able to do evil things in Skyrim, like murdering innocents in the name of Daedric Princes, but the main story involving the dragon Alduin never changes. Bethesda should fully embrace the BioWare aesthetic by creating multiple endings to the main story that are directly altered by players' choices. Sure, other Elder Scrolls games have the illusion of choice, but the main story ends the same. It's going to be difficult for Bethesda to top dragons, but The Elder Scrolls 6 needs to introduce something new to hook players. One of Skyrim's resounding successes was introducing dragons into the main story (and even allowing players to ride them via DLC).
